Make sure you write a very clear description of what it is you want done. If there is any ambiguity, you may be disappointed. Create a detailed specifications brief – the more detail the better. Make sure you state in your description â€œThis job will be quick and easy for someone who knows what they are doing.â€ This makes the job sound easy and will reduce the bids that people make.
And donâ€™t just pick the cheapest bidder – you will usually find that this does not work out as planned. Ask for examples of their previous work. Give them a small project to start and if they handle that well, then engage them on the next one.
Once you find a great person, keep working with them – make it a long term relationship – but do it on a project by project basis.

If you are worried that someone might â€œstealâ€ your idea, then use vague project titles and donâ€™t give any info in the description about how you are going to use the work.
