We had fun a few weeks ago installing an SSL certificate
on a client’s ecommerce
site. Firstly, if you are not sure what an SSL certificate
is – have a look here. Basically, it verifies that the website is legitimate and encrypts data sent from the site (such as your credit card details). Secondly, how much do they cost? Well, eWay recommends a company that sells the basic SSL certificate
for AUD$89.95. But, I used GoDaddy which offered an SSL certificate
(with slightly higher specs than the aforementioned one) for US$19.95 per year (with a 10% discount if you buy 2 years or more). That is a little more affordable and, it works a treat!
